The football club had stormed through to the final of the 2017 FA Vase after a triumphant home win against Coleshill Town in the second leg of the semi-final.

More than 3,000 supporters wore their claret and blue with pride as Shields secured their place - and the celebrations lasted for days.

And at this time 12 months ago, the town was ready and waiting for the big day at Wembley, which took place on Sunday, May 21, 2017.

The rest, as they say, is history. South Shields FC lifted the FA Vase trophy in front of 15,000 fans after a 4-0 win against Cleethorpes Town.

And while we wait for the first anniversary of that special day in the club’s history, we’ve taken a trip back to that home leg semi-final.
