Steve Bruce had this to say about Newcastle United's 5,000-strong FA Cup support
Steve Bruce hailed Newcastle United’s “unique” supporters – after their roared their team to a first FA Cup quarter-final in 14 years.
Bruce’s side beat West Bromwich Albion 3-2 last night thanks to two goals from Miguel Almiron and a strike from Valentino Lazaro.
The team was backed by more than 5,000 fans at The Hawthorns, and head coach Steve Bruce said: “I’m delighted for the supporters.
“They’ve had a 400-mile round trip, and God knows what time they’ll get home with all the motorways shut. So, to have over 5,000 here was amazing. From the moment we arrived in the stadium they made their presence felt, and they were terrific in their support. They’re quite unique.”
