Steve Bruce had this to say about Newcastle United's 5,000-strong FA Cup support

Bruce’s side beat West Bromwich Albion 3-2 last night thanks to two goals from Miguel Almiron and a strike from Valentino Lazaro.

The team was backed by more than 5,000 fans at The Hawthorns, and head coach Steve Bruce said: “I’m delighted for the supporters.

“They’ve had a 400-mile round trip, and God knows what time they’ll get home with all the motorways shut. So, to have over 5,000 here was amazing. From the moment we arrived in the stadium they made their presence felt, and they were terrific in their support. They’re quite unique.”

Newcastle, 14th in the Premier League and five points above the relegation zone after a run of one win from 10 games, take on Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.
