Jarrow Roofing boss confident victory can kickstart season

Jarrow Roofing head to North Shields tonight desperate for a win to help them climb up the Ebac Northern League Division One table.

Following a poor run of form that has seen them pick up only a solitary victory in their last 10 league outings, Roofing are hovering above the relegation zone.

Last time out against Whitley Bay, Richie McLoughlin’s men failed to capitalise on a red card which saw the opposition reduced to 10 men for 40 minutes of the game, one which Roofing lost 2-0.

Despite the poor run of results, Roofing’s supremo McLoughlin is confident that his side can secure three points against Shields and begin to turn around the stuttering season from there.

“I’m confident we can get a result,” he said.

“We’ve not been getting a look in recently, but we’ve been playing well.”

And despite their precarious mid-season league position, the Roofers’ boss is unfazed and believes they can yet put together a run of good results.

“I don’t really look at the league position at this stage,” he continued.

“There’s still plenty of time left in the season – I’ve been in the game too long to worry about any of that.”

At times this season Roofing have been able to point to a lengthy list of absentees as an excuse for poor results, but this was not the case against Whitley Bay and McLoughlin’s side have to start winning sooner rather than later.

They now sit just a handful of points above the relegation, but they do have games in hand – games which they need to start making count, starting against North Shields.

Tonight’s hosts sit comfortably in mid-table in the Northern League Division One table, having secured two wins in their last two games.

Roofing will not quite have a full squad to pick from tonight, with James Fairley, Michael Coghlan and Corey Barnes all unavailable for selection.

Kick off is at 7.30pm at the Daren Perrson Stadium.
