Newcastle United signing will make 'big statement' on Tyneside

That’s the view of the left-back's former Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Nabil Bentaleb, who joined the club from Schalke 04 last week.

Rose, out of favour at Tottenham, is on Tyneside to undergo a medical ahead of a half-season loan.

Bentaleb told Sky Sports: “He’s a top player. Everybody knows his qualities. He’s had a little bit of down in the past months at Tottenham, but its football, you know You have some ups and some downs, but no doubt about how good he is as a football player and a guy also.”

Rose, 29, an England international, needs to play games ahead of this summer’s European Championship. Bentaleb added: “Now he’s ready to come back, hopefully, and make a big statement to go to the Euros.”
