Here’s a list of the group of players head coach Steve Bruce needs to talk futures with – and the three he might wish he didn’t have to.
5. Jamie Sterry
Not in Steve Bruce's Premier League 25 - and the player is unlikely to have future on Tyneside. Impressed in pre-season but United are stacked at right back - they have THREE in their top flight group. Photo: Ian MacNicol
6. Rob Elliot
Former Charlton man Elliot is back where he started his United career - back at number three in the line of keepers. 68 games in EIGHT years at Newcastle. A character, but unlikely to get the chance to pull on the shirt again, barring an injury crisis. Photo: Ian MacNicol
7. Federico Fernandez
Final year of his two-year United deal. Rocked the boat in the summer after the exit of Rafa Benitez, but was kept around by Steve Bruce. Very unlucky not to be in United's starting XI. Was excellent v Leicester City in the Carabao Cup. Photo: Henry Browne
8. Jack Colback
Everyone thought he'd be back in the frame this summer with Bruce at the helm, but another spell in the wilderness ensued. Out of contract at the end of the season, will likely be loaned or a deal struck to release him in January. Photo: Alex Livesey
