Aleksandar Mitrovic reveals his big 'problem' at Newcastle United

The in-form striker has scored 21 Championship goals for promotion-chasing Fulham so far this season.

Mitrovic, sold to Fulham in 2018 after a successful half-season loan at Craven Cottage, found opportunities hard to come by at Newcastle United after Rafa Benitez succeeded Steve McClaren at St James’s Park. And Mitrovic, signed from Anderlecht in 2015, reluctantly left the club he had supported as a boy in Serbia to seek first-team football.

“When I came to Newcastle I was very young,” the 25-year-old told the Daily Mail. “The period I needed to settle in I didn’t have one. I was expected to play straight away and score goals, like Papiss Cisse did a few years before. I will always love Newcastle, but that was a big problem for me.”

Fulham are third in the Championship table with 33 games played.
