The Newcastle United winger has been outstanding following his £16.5million move from Nice last summer.

Saint-Maximin set up three goals in Wednesday night’s 4-1 win over Bournemouth.

The 23-year-old signed a six-year deal when he joined the club, which is in limbo ahead of a proposed takeover.

And the Daily Mail report that Maximin “hoped that a new contract would be on the table by now”.
