After not appearing in the inaugural Premier League season, Newcastle have featured in all but two Premier League seasons since then.
From finishing as runners-up to consistent European football, to relegation battles and relegation - it is fair to say the Magpies have done it all in their 999 games.
From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, there have been some unforgettable games during this time - and a fair few of you probably would like to never think about again.
Here, we have listed our choices for five of the very best and five of the very worst Premier League games Newcastle have been involved in.

5. BEST: September 19, 1999 - Newcastle United 8-0 Sheffield Wednesday
Sir Bobby Robson’s reign in charge of Newcastle United started in the perfect way with a scarcely believable 8-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday. Five goals from Alan Shearer, one from Aaron Hughes and one from Gary Speed sealed victory on a fantastic day at St James’s Park.

6. WORST: November 3, 2007 - Newcastle United 1-4 Portsmouth
Unlike a game that may feature later in this list, there were to be no miracles on this day. This was the nadir of Sam Allardyce’s short-reign at Newcastle. United were 3-0 down inside 11 minutes and despite a Sol Campbell own-goal after 16 minutes, Newcastle never looked like closing the deficit that day.

7. WORST: May 24, 2009 - Aston Villa 1-0 Newcastle United
The day that ended Newcastle’s 15-year stay in the Premier League. A poor season concluded in a fittingly damp manner with a Damien Duff own goal and relegation to the Championship.

8. BEST: October 31, 2010 - Newcastle 5-1 Sunderland
Possibly the most memorable derby day victory over Sunderland in the Premier League era as Chris Hughton’s Newcastle United demolished their local rivals with a hat-trick from Kevin Nolan and a brace from Shola Ameobi. (Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images) Photo: Michael Regan
