Castore reveal '£30m deal' ahead of Newcastle United kit announcement

Castore have revealed a mutli-million pound deal ahead of an expected Newcastle United kit announcement.

The British sportswear company has agreed a deal with the Woking-based McLaren Formula One team reportedly valued at £30million.

Castore, kit suppliers to Rangers, are tipped to take over when Newcastle’s Puma deal ends this summer. Puma have made the club’s kits for more than a decade, having replaced Adidas following the club’s promotion to the Premier League in 2010.

Tom Beahon, the Liverpool-based firm’s co-founder, dropped a hint last month when he said the brand would soon “be in the Premier League” – and would also have a presence in other major European leagues.

Newcastle United's kit deal with Puma ends this summer.

Speaking about the McLaren tie-up, Beahon said: “The founding ambition was very much not to go head to head with Nike, Adidas, Puma – we always thought that would be difficult. The long-term ambition is to become the No.1 premium sportswear brand in the global market.”
