Charlie Austin confirms Newcastle United agreement
Charlie Austin has revealed how close he came to joining Newcastle United.
The West Bromwich Albion striker was asked about the club’s widely-reported move for him in 2015 in a Twitter question-and-answer session with fans.
Austin, 30, told United supporter @nufclewizc: “Done on my side.”
Newcastle, then managed by Steve McClaren, signed striker Aleksandar Mitrovic that summer. The club was relegated that season.
