The Blues travel to St James’s Park on November 21 and Lampard is reportedly confident he will be able to call upon the services of USA international Christian Pulisic.

The American is said to be winning his battle to return to fitness having missed Chelsea’s last three games through injury.

After a breakthrough season in 2019/20, Pulisic’s current campaign has been plagued with issues with the player starting just three games all campaign. The 22-year-old is yet to complete 90 minutes since the summer.

USA national team boss Gregg Berhalter says he is not concerned by Pulisic's injuries, after allowing the player to pull out of his side’s fixtures this week with the ankle problem.

He said: “I really see it as a young player who is just adapting to the demands of a different game, a different schedule.

“When you get injured, when you have a muscle injury, it takes you a while to get fully fit and recover and this is part of his recovery process.

“I have no doubt that he’s going to be a player that is fit for a very long period of time when he gets through this period.”

Meanwhile, Kai Havertz is likely to also be available having sat out the last week following a positive coronavirus test.

The midfielder may yet join up with Germany this week, if he provides a negative test.
