Supporters are eagerly awaiting a positive takeover update, the £300million takeover having dragged on for months with the Premier League still looking at it and there was little cheer on the pitch either.

Here’s the best of the NUFC Twitter fan reaction:

On Twitter, Dell tweeted: “Curtain down on another miserable season thank you.”

Mike Blythe added: “Embarrassing performance today”

Craig added: “Announce takeover now!”

Matty Rayson added: “But a premier league team, and that’s all that matters!! We were written off at the start of the season, proved people wrong.”

Dave Melia added: “No matter how many media types tell us this has been the worst season of football I have seen since the late 80s and i include 2 relegation seasons.”

Michael added: “Championship quality at best.”

Dheeraj Ahuja added: “Same result as last time. Really hope the new season brings some cheer.”

“1 point off the worst team in the league. Our keeper made more saves than any other We are a club going nowhere.”

While Newcastle ended their season with a defeat, it was an unforgettable afternoon for Kell Watts as he made his NUFC debut in the 74th minute.

He replaced Danny Rose.
