Elliot Anderson named on Newcastle United bench as Isaac Hayden out Jamaal Lascelles miss out

Steve Bruce revealed yesterday that three unnamed players were self-isolating after positive Covid-19 tests – and the trio are not involved against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

"This is the first time really when we’ve been a bit anxious, because we’ve had three in a week in and around the training-ground bubble,” said United’s head coach. "That’s not great, but, then again, I’ve heard that Premier League teams have had something like 12 or so last week in the group. We’ll have to manage the group is respect of what it is, but it’s difficult.”

Winger Allan Saint-Maximin is out after suffering a hamstring injury in training yesterday, while midfielder Elliot Anderson, 18, is on the bench.
