Eddie Howe’s side now know they will face Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the season with a trip to Stamford Bridge on the final day of the campaign on May 28.
In between those games are 36 matches that will determine how a first full season under new owners and management will look on Tyneside.
Newcastle finished in 11th place last year and will be hoping to improve on that as they aim to push for a top-half finish and into the European places – but is that likely next year?

5. Brentford - 16th

6. Southampton - 15th
Southampton have never really been in relegation danger under Ralph Hassenuttl but have never seemingly progressed under his management either. They’re not predicted to be one of the sides worrying too much about relegation this season, though they will want to ensure they aren’t one of the sides dragged into danger. 7. Everton - 14th

8. Wolves - 13th
Bruno Lage’s first season in charge at Wolves ended with a 10th place finish. They are being tipped for much of the same next year but will want to strengthen to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle. Wolves are 9/2 to be relegated next season. Photo: Alex Livesey
