A first half brace from Arnold Matshazi put Blackpool in a commanding position at half-time at Bloomfield Road. Jake Daniels made it 3-0 in the second half to secure a quarter-final tie at Chelsea.

Peter Ramage’s side survived a late scare to beat Colchester United 3-2 at St James’s Park last month and set up the last-16 tie.

Newcastle deliver a dangerous corner which Alex McLachlan flaps away. Thankfully a Pool teammate hacks the bouncing ball away.

Pool’s corner is cleared but they work the ball back into the box towards captain Michael Fitzgerald, whose header is straight at the keeper.

That’s a great cross from right-back Jack Moore that was begging for a Blackpool teammate to meet it. Instead it’s headed behind for a corner.

Blackpool’s wall does its job. The wall charges down the Newcastle player and make an important block.

Pool survive.

Blackpool are harshly punished for a passback, giving Newcastle an indirect free kick 10 yards out.

We’re back underway

The young Seasiders, who are 45 minutes away from a trip to Chelsea, get the game restarted.

John Murphy’s side are in complete control here and it could easily have been more. Both goals were superbly taken by Matshazi.

Luke Mariette almost starts and finishes a move on his own. The midfielder slides in beautifully to win the ball back before surging forward, dragging the ball back across the face of goal...but no one is there to capitalise.

Great play once again from the young Seasiders.

37 - GOAL BLACKPOOL! (2-0)

It’s a carbon copy goal from Arnold Matshazi as he races onto a ball forward before drilling a low shot past the keeper, in off the post.

Blackpool are flying!
