Fabian Schar admits 'fan frustration' is felt by Newcastle United players amid 'bad situation' for Steve Bruce & Co on Tyneside

United made it 11 games without a win in all competitions following defeat to Leeds United in the week.

And Schar says the squad feel the fans’ frustrations – because they feel it, too.

“The frustration in the team and the fans around the club is big, and I can understand that,” said the Switzerland international, who was probably the Magpies’ stand out player in the 2-1 reverse.

"We are in a bad situation. The last couple of games we have lost and we are not happy with that, obviously.

“But there's nothing to blame, it's just head down and keep going.”

Speaking to NUFC TV, Schar revealed there’s a real crisis of confidence at United at present – and it’s something they need to break.

"We are believing and I'm sure we also know the quality we have in the team. Now it's finding confidence again,” he said.

“We are making mistakes which normally do not happen because we are not full of confidence – and when results are not good, that's normal.

“But it's a situation where we have to deal with it and just go on to the next one and try even better.”

Newcastle United travel to Goodison Park on Saturday looking to arrest their top flight decline. Kick-off in the Premier League clash on Merseyside is at 12.30. Next Tuesday United host Crystal Palace at St James’s Park.
