The Magpies were beaten 1-0 at Everton last time out before the international break but remain 14th in the table and nine points clear of the relegation zone with nine games to go.
While the international break has given some of Newcastle’s players time to recover, it has also taken its toll on others.
Jonjo Shelvey has missed the last two matches due to illness while Allan Saint-Maximin hasn’t started a game since February 13. Fabian Schar and Martin Dubravka were also forced to withdraw from international duty due to injury and illness respectively.
Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier remain sidelined with longer term injuries but are expected to be back in contention to feature by the end of the month.

5. Fabian Schar - groin

6. Martin Dubravka - illness
Dubravka withdrew from the Slovakia squad due to suspected tonsillitis but returned to training at Newcastle on Thursday. He is another Howe hopes 'will be fine' for Sunday. Photo: Alex Burstow
7. Isaac Hayden - knee
The midfielder picked up a serious knee injury in December and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season having been left out of Newcastle's 25-man squad as a result. He has since returned to training with the squad and was fined £19,000 for a tweet following Newcastle's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea which questioned the integrity of the match official. Photo: Stu Forster
