Fabian Schar hints at positive injury news after Newcastle United blow
Fabian Schar has linked up with Switzerland – despite suffering a shoulder injury.
The Newcastle United defender was forced off against Burnley at St James’s Park on Saturday night on what was his Premier League comeback from the dislocated shoulder he suffered against Tottenham Hotspur late last season..
And Steve Bruce feared that Schar had “disrupted” the surgery he had on his shoulder. United’s head coach said: "I’ll not know about Fab Schar until we scan him. He needs a bit of luck there.”
Schar, in a positive sign, met up with his Switzerland team-mates ahead of games against Croatia, Spain and Germany. He tweeted: “Back with the team.”
The 28-year-old – who had made his first appearance since mid-July in last week’s Carabao Cup win over Newport County – had earlier reacted to Newcastle’s 3-1 win over Burnley on Twitter. He said: “Good to be back after almost 3 months. Great 3 points from the team. Hope the shoulder is not to bad again.”
