The Magpies won 3-2 against the Hammers at St James’ Park top put the Tynesiders nine points clear of the relegation zone.

A late Joe Willock strike off the bench ensured United blushes were saved, having thrown away a two-goal half-time lead.

“They [Newcastle] attacked with a purpose today,” Scott said on Match of the Day.

“And that’s where Gabby, you talk about Saint-Maximin, which he adds.

“They’re looking for him all the time.

“And what he brings to this side as well, is a fear factor for the opposition, for the opposition defenders.

“Knowing you’ve got a player who can run at you, and Newcastle just created more chances than what we’re used to seeing with them.”
