Newcastle United were set to face Manchester City in the quarter-final of the competition, only for the fixture at St James’s Park to be postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

And with fans of the Magpies already dreaming of Wembley after they reached the last eight for the first time in 14 years, Bullingham’s update will come as welcome news.

Speaking to the Press Association, he said: “Clearly from our point of view, the FA Cup is incredibly important.

“We are talking the priority being that, whenever football can be played again, to complete the domestic season, we are talking about both the league and the FA Cup.”

The quarter-final with Manchester City is yet to be remained, with football postponed until April 3 at the earliest.
