The 21-year-old Peruvian signed for the Magpies in the summer transfer window, but is yet to make his first team bow for Steve Bruce’s side.

The reality is that he may have to wait a little while for that opportunity as well, but it would appear that both the player and his representatives are eager for him to kick on as soon as possible so that he can realise his dream of earning a senior cap for his country.

Speaking to Peruvian outlet Futbol Peruano, Vilca’s agent – Elio Casareto – explained: “The Premier League is very competitive and he needs minutes in Europe, because the national team is also following him.”

But while Casareto seemingly his eye on an exit for his client, it would appear that he is only interested in a temporary stint away from St. James’ Park.

The midfielder’s agent went on to claim that he has his heart set firmly on a first team role with the Toon Army, and wishes to emulate the success that fellow South American Miguel Almiron has had at the club in recent times.

Casareto added: “The idea, hopefully, is to replace Miguel Almiron in the number ten position, but he still needs the experience of a first team in Europe to complement what he is doing.”

Vilca has hit one goal and one assist in seven Premier League 2 matches this season.
