Newcastle are battling relegation with Bruce coming under intense fire and criticism from angry and fed-up supporters.
But Moyes believes Bruce has done a good job – and the one he was tasked with doing, although Newcastle are not yet safe.
Speaking ahead of the Saturday lunchtime kick-off, Moyes said: “I’m expecting a really difficult game, but if I’m going to anyone in the Premier League I’ll say it’s a difficult game.
"They’ll see it as a difficult game as well and that’s how the Premier League is this year.
“Steve Bruce has done a good job, he’s done what he’s been asked. He’s had really good support from his owner at difficult times and I think because of that you’ll see Newcastle staying in the Premier League.
“It's a tough game at Newcastle and it always has been.”
