Newcastle United’s busy transfer window in the summer meant a fair few players had to leave the club in order to make room in Eddie Howe’s first-team squad.
Whilst the Magpies struggled to offload some players on a permanent basis, they did manage to secure loan deals for some of the fringe members of their squad.
Newcastle, under the new guidance of Dan Ashworth and loan manager Shola Ameobi, also managed to find clubs to take some of the younger members of the squad on-loan as they aim to develop their talents away from the club and gain exposure to first-team football.
Here, we take a look at how every player to leave Newcastle United this season, either on-loan or on a permanent basis, has fared in their new surroundings since departing Tyneside.

9. Jeff Hendrick
Hendrick was reunited with former teammate Andy Carroll at Reading who have been one of the Championship’s surprise packages this season. Hendrick has one goal and one assist in 26 league appearances. Photo: Eddie Keogh

10. Ciaran Clark
Clark was sidelined with a hamstring injury throughout September and October, eventually making his return for the Blades just before the break for the Qatar World Cup. Sheffield United sit in 2nd place in the Championship and have a clear gap to the play-off places. Clark has suffered yet another hamstring injury and could miss the Blades’ next few games. 11. Matty Longstaff
Longstaff moved to Colchester United on-loan this summer and looked like he was just hitting his stride before suffering an ACL injury. He has now returned to Tyneside with Eddie Howe recently revealing he will miss the remainder of the campaign. Photo: Stu Forster

12. Joe White
White has moved to Exeter City on-loan until the end of the season, joining up with former Magpie Gary Caldwell at St James’s Park. Caldwell recently described White as having ‘star quality’. Photo: Michael Regan
