13. Miguel Almiron: £15.75m
Before Joelinton, it was the signing of Miguel Almiron that broke the club-record transfer of £15m that they paid for Michael Owen in 2006. Almiron has been a regular in the United squad since joining from Atlanta, playing in a variety of positions. (Photo by Clive Brunskill/Getty Images) Photo: Clive Brunskill

14. Joe Willock: £19.8m
Only one player joined Bruce’s squad this summer as they made their loan move for Willock permanent. Newcastle may have slightly overspent compared to his market value, however, his contributions at the end of last campaign proved invaluable as his goals steered Newcastle clear of relegation. 15. Callum Wilson: £19.8m
The 29 year-old’s goals have been absolutely priceless for Newcastle since Wilson joined last summer. His injury-record may not be great, however, when fit, Wilson is easily one of Newcastle’s most valuable players. (Photo by Nick Potts - Pool/Getty Images) Photo: Pool

16. Allan Saint-Maximin: £27m
By far and away Newcastle’s most valuable player is Allan Saint-Maximin. There’s no coincidence that the winger has been linked with moves to PSG, Liverpool and Chelsea recently. Newcastle will apparently try to hold out for a bid in excess of £50m if they were to sell the Frenchman. (Photo by George Wood/Getty Images) Photo: George Wood
