Bruce has made six changes to the starting XI which was beaten 2-0 by Manchester City in the FA Cup last time out, with Danny Rose, Miguel Almiron, Fabian Schar, Andy Carroll and Isaac Hayden all dropping to the bench.

The reaction to the news was mixed, with many fans asking why January signing Valentino Lazaro hasn’t been selected.

Lazaro has made just two starts since joining the Magpies from Inter Milan and will once again have to settle for a place on the bench at the Vitality Stadium.

Here’s how some supporters reacted to the news on social media:

@AIIuminati: I don't understand why Lazaro can't get a start? Especially in a game we're rotating players in…

@Toon_Magpie: Gayle starts and Muto’s not even in the squad???

@KierenW6: Give Lazaro a chance

@RazeJC: Why loan Lazaro in for game time and never play him, Krafth is useless

@AdamSproates: Understand resting Almiron and Rose, but Krafth. 100% would've started Carroll against Nathan Ake

@owen_lyon99: Why is Lazaro not getting a look in for us at the minute, he’s better than Krafth

@yanis_johnstone: 433, should have plenty of legs in the middle of the park. Can’t help thinking we're missing Ritchie though

@Looney_Toon1892: Hope Saint-Maximin doesn’t get injured! Every press conference since Man City you’ve said he’s been a bit sore

@ryanbeard2012: Would've preferred to have seen Lazaro at right back tonight but let's give Krafth a chance.
