Steve Bruce lost Callum Wilson, Fabian Schar and Javier Manquillo to injuries during Saturday’s 3-2 win over Southampton.
And there are fears that Schar’s season could be over, with the defender set to be out for several months after sustaining a serious knee injury.

Hide AdBruce, however, has had better news on his captain Jamaal Lascelles, who was forced off in the win over Everton late last month with a hamstring problem.
Lascelles – who had only just returned from Covid-19 – gave an update in his programme column at the weekend after having a scan.
“I’ve had my scan, and the result was probably the best outcome I could have had,” said Lascelles. “It isn’t anything too bad, and it’ll hopefully just be a case of a few days rather than anything longer. Hopefully, it can just settle down.
“Obviously, it’s still frustrating, though. I’ve been out for two months because of Covid, built my fitness back up in the games I played, and then I felt my hamstring just when I was starting to get to full fitness. But, thankfully, it definitely isn’t as bad as it could have been.”

Hide AdBruce and his staff are now preparing the team for the club’s February 15 game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
"Unfortunately, it looks as if we’ve picked up an awful injury with Manquillo,” said United's head coach. “It looks as if Fab Schar has a bad knee injury. And, of course, Callum Wilson has a hamstring too.”
