Jarrod Bowen issues statement on West Ham future amid Newcastle United links
Newcastle United have regularly been linked with Jarrod Bowen since almost signing him six years ago.
Jarrod Bowen has confirmed he is staying at West Ham United, despite their relegation from the Premier League.
Bowen has been linked with several top-flight clubs, including Newcastle United, but is set to remain with the Hammers as they look to achieve promotion from the Championship.
The 29-year-old remains under contract at the London Stadium until 2030 but is understood to have adjusted the terms in order to stay for the upcoming campaign.

“For me, it was only right to speak when the time’s right in circumstances like this, then it’s back to talking about football,” Bowen said.
“I flew out to Prague in the Czech Republic to meet Daniel and Jiří and the ambition that I got from them, certainly in terms of the direction the Club wants to move in, it interests me a lot. It didn’t take a lot for me, because this Club means a lot to me.
“I did an interview after the [Leeds United] game and said my vision is to get this Club back in the Premier League. Sometimes you think it falls on deaf ears and people say ‘he’s just saying that’. There have been things written and different things said and you have to look at it and bite your tongue sometimes.
“But when I say something, I don’t hide away from it. For me, the main thing is to get this Club back into the Premier League and speak to people in the Club about what we want to do moving forward as a Club for the better of the Club. It was a no-brainer for me to be here and the vision is clear, it’s the Premier League.”
Newcastle United came close to signing Jarrod Bowen in 2020
Newcastle have had a long-standing interest in Bowen which stems from his time at Hull City. The winger previously agreed to join the Magpies in January 2020, only for former owner Mike Ashley to pull the plug on the deal.
Bowen ended up joining West Ham instead and the rest his history. He is now captain of the Hammers, having made 280 appearances and scored 85 goals, including the strike that won the club the Conference League in 2023.
Reflecting on the failed transfer, Bowen told the Premier League’s YouTube channel. back in 2023: “So it was deadline day and I had nothing. I thought I was going to Newcastle because Steve Bruce was there.
“I was looking for houses and everything, I thought it was nailed on. They said they’re not paying the money, and I thought I would stay at Hull.
“It was £14m with £6m in add-ons and one of those was for an England call-up, and I thought that would never happen. I went to training and thought I was staying at Hull, but the manager pulled me and said ‘what are you doing here, we’ve accepted a bid from West Ham.’ I didn’t even know they were interested.”
