Jetro Willems posts message to fans amid Newcastle United interest
Jetro Willems has said his goodbyes at Eintracht Frankfurt – ahead of a potential move to Newcastle United.
The club, which will again look at free agents in the transfer window, will consider a move for Willems should Matt Ritchie leave this summer.
Willems had a loan at St James’s Park in the 2019/20 campaign cut short by injury – and is interested in a return to the Premier League
The 27-year-old – who hasn’t played a competitive game since returning to fitness last year – posted a goodbye message on Twitter ahead of the expiry of his contract.
“It’s never easy to say goodbye,” said Willems. “But that’s life. It was a difficult decision. I want to thank everybody from the bottom of my heart. All the team-mates, the medical staff and not to forget the fans! I’d lie to thank y’all for the amazing four years. Thank you!”
