Willems, signed on a season-long loan from Eintracht Frankfurt, left the stadium wearing a knee brace and on crutches after suffering a suspected cruciate ligament injury. The injury – and the loss of Paul Dummett to a hamstring problem last weekend – has left Bruce short on the left side of his defence for the second half of the season.

Asked about Willems’ injury, head coach Bruce said: "It looks a horrendous injury for Jetro. It doesn't look good for Dummett either. Within a few days we have a problem in that area. Cruciate injury (for Willems).”
