Joelinton, Anthony Gordon, Tino Livramento: Newcastle United injury list & return dates ahead of Arsenal
Newcastle United are back in Premier League action at Arsenal on Saturday (5:30pm kick-off) as Eddie Howe’s side look to avoid a fifth straight defeat.
Newcastle United will be looking to stop the rot and end a 16-year winless run at Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.
The Magpies famously beat the Gunners 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium en route to winning the Carabao Cup last season, but haven’t won there in the Premier League since Andy Carroll’s header back in 2010.
Eddie Howe’s side head into the game on the back of four disappointing defeats. A 7-2 record European defeat to Barcelona has been followed by three successive 2-1 losses to Sunderland, Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth, decided by late winners.
It leaves Newcastle sitting 14th in the table and six points off the European places with five games left to play.
And Howe has several injury concerns heading into Saturday’s match. Here is the latest Newcastle injury and unavailable list
Bruno Guimaraes
Bruno Guimaraes came off the bench in the second half of the Bournemouth defeat after more than two months out with a hamstring injury. He is expected to be available for the trip to Arsenal as he eyes his first start since Newcastle’s previous trip to North London, where they beat Tottenham Hotspur back in February.
What’s Eddie Howe said?
“It was great to have him back and I think he could feel the supporters have missed him, we've missed him, the team has missed him,” Howe admitted.
“There's still a bit of rust in there for Bruno, he's been out a long time and big pitch spaces is what he needs now and I think he'll be better for that game.”
Expected return date
Available for selection.
Anthony Gordon
Anthony Gordon missed the defeat against Bournemouth due to a hip injury. He remains a doubt for the trip to Arsenal.
What Eddie Howe said?
“He went for a scan on, again, I think it was Thursday morning, and it was clear he had an injury that would take him out of the game.
“We're unclear [if he’ll play against Arsenal]. I don't think it's a long-term injury, whether he makes it next week, I don't know. We'll have to see how he goes this week in training.”
Expected return date
TBC (May 2026).
Tino Livramento
Tino Livramento suffered another injury setback after he was forced off against Bournemouth on Saturday. The defender had previously been ruled out for two months with a hamstring injury before returning to action.
He will be assessed through the week.
What Eddie Howe said?
“Yeah, for Tino, that's a huge blow for him, but for us, I actually thought he, in part, with Kieran's introduction at the beginning of the second half, made it stronger, and then losing him was a big blow.”
Expected return date
TBC (May 2026).
Joelinton
Joelinton missed the Bournemouth match after picking up his 10th Premier League booking of the season and being handed a two-match ban as a result.
He will serve the final match of his suspension this weekend against Arsenal before returning to action the following week.
What’s Eddie Howe said?
“Disappointing, especially with the deadline today - it being the last game [before it reset]. That’s one for Joey, he plays on the edge, he’s always a fierce competitor.
“He’s overstepped the mark once, he’s got the yellow card. We’ll just have to readjust and reshuffle."
Expected return date
Brighton & Hove Albion (H) 02/05.

Fabian Schar
Schar has been sidelined since the 4-3 victory over Leeds United on January 7 after being forced to undergo ankle surgery. Just as the Swiss defender was nearing a return, he suffered a setback with a foot infection that required further surgery.
He is still expected to return before the end of the season.
What’s Eddie Howe said?
“Fabian, unfortunately suffered an infection in his foot. He's been in hospital having a very small operation to get that cleaned out so he won't return for around a month, we think. So that's bad news on him.”
Expected return dates
Nottingham Forest (A) 10/05.
Emil Krafth
Krafth picked up a knee injury on international duty with Sweden last November and, after months of uncertainty, underwent surgery in February.
What’s Eddie Howe said?
“Emil's had an operation on his knee so I think in all likelihood it looks like the season is over, which is a real blow for us.
“He first suffered the problem on international duty. We hoped that he could come back and be OK, but it was clear in training recently that he wasn't going to get to the level needed and that he needed a surgical intervention.”
Expected return date
2026-27.
