Jamaal Lascelles will make his comeback from injury in tonight’s FA Cup tie against Rochdale.

The defender – who cracked his tibia in November – will lead Newcastle United in the third-round replay at St James’s Park. Matt Ritchie also makes his first start since August, when he suffered an ankle injury which needed two operations.

Karl Darlow starts in goal with Martin Dubravka rested, while fit-again midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, sidelined since New Year’s Day, is on the bench.

The two clubs drew 1-1 at Spotland earlier this month. Head coach Steve Bruce said: “For them, it's not just another game, it's their big game. Let's be honest, we have to be ready for that challenge, because they’ll cause us a problem or two, that's for sure.”
