The 31-year-old mutually agreed to terminate his United contract on deadline day and find a new club having fallen-out-favour under Steve Bruce.

And reports from Goal in South Korea claim he is set to move back to Asia.

The report translates as: "Ki Sung-Yueng has a variety of options, including Europe, the Middle East and China, but I think returning to Korea is the most preferred."

It is believed that Korean outfit Jeonbuk Hyundai have held talks with Ki and negotiations have been positive so far.

But while Ki supposedly prefers a move back to his homeland, it also adds that Benitez, manager at Dalian Yifang, has shown interest in KI, who brought to Newcastle in 2018.

Indeed, any Benitez swoop for Ki could be scuppered by China’s coronavirus.
