Leeds United legend wants club to shun Everton interest to land 'out-of-favour' Newcastle United man
Leeds United legend Paul Robinson wants the club to bin their interest in Everton’s Turkey international Cenk Tosun and chase Dwight Gayle instead.
In fact, the former England keeper believes the Whites must “try everything they can to get him”.
“We need a goalscorer,” said Robinson.
“Tosun isn’t exactly prolific and if you’re going to go for someone like him, you need to look at someone like Gayle if you’re gonna pay that sort of money.”
“If you’re going to get a striker on loan then Dwight Gayle… he is a must. Leeds need to try everything they can to get him.”
Magpies boss Steve Bruce last week reiterated his want to keep Gayle on Tyneside, amid January interest from a number of Championship clubs.
The 29-year-old is third choice striker at United this season and had managed just four appearances since his return from injury.
