The official reason Lewis Hall drops out of Newcastle United XI v Burnley - Yoane Wissa & Sandro Tonali boost
Newcastle United v Burnley team news: Eddie Howe has named Yoane Wissa, Lewis Hall and Sandro Tonali on the bench at St James’ Park.
Newcastle United are back in Premier League action against Burnley at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off).
The Magpies head into the game on the back of taking seven points from their last three Premier League matches but ultimately being left frustrated by a last-minute 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night.
Spurs scored with their only two shots on target in the match, including a 95th-minute overhead kick from Cristian Romero which bounced through a crowd of players and into the net. It ended a run of six successive wins at St James’ Park for The Magpies.
Double boost for Newcastle United
Newcastle had William Osula, Nick Pope, Emil Krafth, Kieran Trippier and Sven Botman ruled out of the match while Yoane Wissa and Sandro Tonali were deemed doubts by head coach Eddie Howe in his pre-match press conference.
Wissa had yet to be involved in a matchday squad for Newcastle having injured his knee days after joining the club from Brentford for £55million on deadline day. Tonali was forced off at half-time after taking a knock against Spurs.
But both players were cleared to be involved in Newcastle’s matchday squad against Burnley on Saturday, being named on the bench.
Eddie Howe makes six changes to NUFC line-up
Tonali and Wissa were named on a strong bench, which also included Lewis Hall, Joelinton, Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy, and Lewis Miley.
Miley, Tonali, Murphy, Hall, Joelinton and Barnes were among the six changes made by Howe as Joe Willock, Jacob Ramsey, Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon, Anthony Elanga and Fabian Schar came into the side.

The official reason Lewis Hall is on the bench for Newcastle United
Hall has dropped to the bench for Newcastle having impressed since his return from injury.
But Newcastle have explained that the 21-year-old dropping out of the starting line-up is due to an illness he had been suffering from following the Spurs match rather than any injury-related issue.
