Here, Shields Gazette Newcastle United writer Liam Kennedy delivers his player ratings after watching the game at St James’ Park:

1. Martin Dubravka - 6
Could do absolutely nothing about the goals. Generally solid. Very vocal throughout the 90 minutes. Photo: Stu Forster

2. Jacob Murphy - 7
A decent impact down the right. Went close with one or two efforts. A good return to the side in an attacking sense. Photo: Stu Forster

3. Emil Krath - 4
Very, very shaky from the off. Largely to blame for the Spurs equaliser. Doesn't seem to look at home anywhere in the United backline. Photo: Stu Forster

4. Paul Dummett - 5
Questionable defending for the second goal let down an otherwise OK performance on the left of the three. Photo: Mike Hewitt
