Liam Kennedy's Newcastle United team for Tottenham Hotspur – with FOUR big selection decisions
Every week our Newcastle United writer Liam Kennedy steps into Bruce’s boots and picks his own Magpies’ starting XI.
This week it looks very different to the team Bruce is likely to pick with a change made in the backline, another two in midfield and a further tweak up top...

5. Paul Dummett
Solid defensively but lacking much in attack. It is either one or the other, with Jamal Lewis the exact opposite to Dummett. I opt for defensive solidity and that means the Geordie gets the nod. Photo: Mike Hewitt

6. Sean Longstaff
Playing the pivot does not suit his style, but it is a role he can fill in desperation. I do not believe he will be a downgrade on Jonjo Shelvey, who drops out of this team despite the absence of Isaac Hayden. Photo: Alex Pantling

7. Joe Willock
Some of the criticism thrown his way has been harsh as I think he has been as poor as the team collectively. Has not been able to play the role he was brought in to do. A focal point further forward, allowing him to hit gaps in the opposition backline will help. Photo: CLIVE ROSE

8. Matty Longstaff
Comes in for Hayden on the left of the three, could even switch positionally with brother Sean, although the deep role does not suit either brother 100%. Needs to play. Probably won't. Expect Jeff Hendrick to slot in using Bruce logic. Photo: Stu Forster
