Following Newcastle United’s 2-1 loss to Leeds United in the Premier League, under-pressure Magpies boss Steve Bruce revealed what Marcelo Bielsa told him in their post-match chat at St James’s Park.
Bruce’s side, energised by the introduction of substitute Allan Saint-Maximin, pushed hard for an equaliser after Jack Harrison scored what would turn out to be the visitors’ winning goal.
Asked about his conversation with Bielsa, Bruce said: “He was very complimentary about our team, and said we deserved more. I thanked him for that. He acknowledged that we played very well.”
But what about transfers?
SkyBet are offering odds on Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll on joining Burnley and West Brom. The Baggies are priced at 3/1 to conclude a deal for the target man, whilst the Clarets are outside shots at 20/1.
However, reports suggest the Magpies are not likely to entertain any loan offers for the 32-year-old striker during the January transfer window.
In terms of fresh Newcastle United-related gossip this morning, the landscape remains quiet following the loss to Leeds United.
Several of the Magpies’ Premier League rivals, however, are eyeing deals that could leave Bruce further behind in their struggle in the top-flight this season.
Here, we’re taking a look at all of the Premier League transfer gossip, rumours and odds from around the web:

9. Simon Jordan makes £100m Leeds claim
Simon Jordan believes Leeds will need to spend £100m on new transfers is they are to finish in the top six of the Premier League. Jordan said: "I think the framework of the club means that it has a real opportunity. It’s a tall order to achieve and they’ll need big pockets. You won’t do it without the best players. You can have the best coach in the world but all he can do is make players better. He (Bielsa) is going to need £100m+ in player transfers for a season. You’ll see then if the 49ers are going to be advantageous to Leeds or just another investor." (TalkSport) Photo: Julian Finney
