Howe’s side take on Premier League leaders Arsenal knowing a win would take them second in the division. Howe has made one change to his team, with Callum Wilson – who was a substitute against Leeds United on Tuesday night – replacing Chris Wood in the starting XI.

Asked about Wilson’s return, Howe said: "He’s keen to play. He's come back (from the World Cup), and picked up an illness. But he’s back, he’s fit. He’s ready, and we expect him to give us a different focal point to Chris.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, recalled from loan at Manchester United, is on the bench. The 33-year-old only made two cup appearances for Erik ten Hag's side in the first half of the season.
