'Maybe try him at centre-half?' – Newcastle United fans round on Joelinton after another Carabao Cup shocker
Newcastle United record signing Joelinton again drew a blank in the Carabao Cup – and it’s fair to say fans were NOT impressed.
Here’s how #NUFC reacted:
@TheBlogOnTyne – “Joelinton still isn't very good when he plays as a lone striker. Guess he still hasn't learned to play a different position. Maybe try him at centre-back next week. In all seriousness, back him. Don't abuse him. It doesn't help.”
@JJFletcher7's – “At any point in his career Shola was ten times the player Joelinton is!”
@gw8650 – “Completely understand the frustration around Joelinton, he’s not a £40m player in a million years. I actually quite like the lad though, think he needs to play off the striker, and desperately needs a couple of goals, his confidence has been in bits since he arrived.”
@CharlieWhite03 – “I really am running out of excuses for Joelinton... I love the lad but it’s just getting so poor and I feel like I’m trying to justify the £40m price tag. Just really hope he gains that confidence.”
@DanLaws7 – “Hard to explain how bad Joelinton has been in this game tonight ..needs to leave on loan or otherwise.”
@NufcUpdates_UK – “I think joelinton is possibly the worst #NUFC striker I have ever seen in my life.”
@whyayeman1955 – “Hate being negative but this is bloody embarrassing, surely wor Steve can see that. Longstaff & Joelinton completely ineffective.”
@BenjamnPaulHart – “I’ve changed my mind - sympathetic to Joelinton being played out of position last season, but this performance is abject from him against poor opposition.”
