Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron made the surprise call to remain with his international side Paraguay despite being banned for last night’s clash with Bolivia.
According to reports the Magpies were expecting their man to fly back to the UK early after picking up a suspension – but the player chose to remain and due to the long-haul travel remains a doubt for Saturday’s 12.30pm kick-off against Chelsea.
United are sweating on the fitness of frontman Callum Wilson, who injured his hamstring last time out against Southampton.
