No fight, no quality, no passion, no idea. Aston Villa were in cruise control from minute one, but you could say that about any of the sides who have faced United in December and January this season.
Collectively it was far from good enough but what about individual performances? Here’s Miles Starforth’s player ratings from the predictable Premier League loss.
5. Fabian Schar - 4
At fault for Watkins’ goal, nowhere near his confident and commanding best. Photo: Clive Brunskill
6. Jamal Lewis - 5
Tackled, tracked and tried to get forward, limited Villa's chances down United's left. Photo: CLIVE BRUNSKILL
7. Jeff Hendrick - 4
Recalled to the starting XI, but wasn't an influence on the game. Photo: Pool
8. Jonjo Shelvey - 4
Kept his place despite a poor performance at Arsenal, played higher up the pitch, but again needed to do more with and without the ball. Photo: Gareth Copley
