Maximin opened the scoring in the first half with a superb solo effort before a brace from Wilson in the second half, after Burnley had equalised, sealed the win in the behind-closed-doors clash at St James’s Park.
Steve Bruce’s side were worthy of the three points and there were several important performances, with Joelinton also catching the eye.
