Newcastle United couldn’t hang on to a one-goal lead against Aston Villa on Wednesday evening as Steve Bruce’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at St James’s Park.
Magpies striker Dwight Gayle opened the scoring after coming off the bench for the hosts, yet another substitute, Villa’s Ahmed Elmohamady, equalised seven minutes from time.
