Newcastle United and Leeds United look to have taken a back seat in the race for QPR forward Eberechi Eze – according to reports.

The 22-year-old netted 14 times for the Loftus Road outfit last season and has a number of Premier League suitors this summer.

And while Newcastle and Leeds have both shown an interest, the Daily Mail suggest that it is Crystal Palace who have taken a firm step to try and get a deal over the line.

The Eagles are thought to have seen a £12million bid for Eze turned down last month, with QPR valuing their academy graduate at around £20million.

But the Mail suggest that Palace have now returned to the negotiating table in a bid to seal a deal ahead of their Premier League rivals.

West Ham United also remain interested, and could use former QPR loanee Jordan Hugill as a makeweight in a deal.
