Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest linked with Serie A defender as club set demands for Brazilian star

The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as the Magpies are linked with a Brazilian right-back.

Newcastle United have been linked with a Brazilian right-back as they look to provide cover and competition for Tino Livramento following the departures of experienced duo Emil Krafth and Kieran Trippier.

There was some positive news for the Magpies when Livramento joined his Magpies team-mates on their return to pre-season training earlier this week after he underwent a minor operation on a hamstring injury that forced him to withdraw from England’s World Cup finals squad.

However, the former Chelsea and Southampton defender is the only senior right-back within Eddie Howe’s squad as it stands and that will mean United could look at add another option during the summer transfer window. Youngster Leo Shahar remains highly-rated within the Magpies academy and senior ranks - but there is a feeling the former Wolves youngster may well need to go out on loan to gain some first-team experience to aid his development.

Newcastle have been tentatively linked with Nottingham Forest and Wales star Neco Williams and Strasbourg’s Guela Doue in recent months - but a more recent report from Italy has suggested the Magpies are considering a move for Fiorentina right-back Dodo. The 27-year-old joined the Serie A club from Shakhtar Donetsk during the summer of 2022 and has gone on to make over 160 appearances for La Viola over the last four seasons as they have finished as runners-up in the Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League over that time.

Significantly, the Brazilian has now entered the final 12 months of his current deal with Fiorentina and ViolaNews have claimed Newcastle and Nottingham Forest have made enquiries over the possibility of securing a deal during the summer transfer window. The report also claims Fiorentina are open to a deal but will demand a fee of around £15m after paying just over £15.4m to secure Dodo’s services four years ago. Inter, Roma and Napoli are also said to have shown interest in the full-back - but the possibility of a move to England has ‘emerged’ in recent days.
