Newcastle United attacker pens new deal – and joins Sunderland's League One rivals on loan

The 20-year-old, who made his senior debut via a FA Cup replay against Rochdale in January where he assisted Joelinton’s goal, ended last season as the under-23’s top goalscorer.

He also enjoyed a handful of appearances on the bench for the first-team under Steve Bruce, but now moves to League One for the first loan of his career.

"I can only be grateful to Accrington for taking me on and giving me the chance,” Allan told NUFCTV. “It’s down to me now to get in the team and make an impression, similar to the likes of Dan Barlaser.

"I spoke to him before I agreed to go and he said it was a great bunch of lads and great club.”

He added: “Im 20 now, it is a make or break season for me where you need to be playing senior football. The likes of Sean (Longstaff) and Dan have done it – you either stink or swim I think. It’ll be a real test but hopefully it’s one I strive from.

Allan becomes the second youngster to depart United on a temporary basis this week with goalkeeper Jake Turner joining League Two Morecambe on loan for the entire season.
