Newcastle United co-owner releases statement after Fulham defeat - brutally honest
Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben has sent a message to supporters after an ‘underwhelming season’.
Jamie Reuben admits Newcastle United’s Premier League season has been ‘underwhelming’ and vowed to ‘work tirelessly’ over the summer to ‘come back stronger’.

The Magpies rounded off their 2025-26 campaign with a 2-0 defeat away to Fulham as they finished 12th in the table, their lowest finish under Eddie Howe.
Newcastle were in the relegation zone when Howe took charge in October 2021 but ended up finishing 11th before 12 months later finishing fourth to qualify for the Champions League.
In the next season, United finished 7th before last year clinching 5th, again qualifying for the Champions League as well as ending their 56-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup.
However, this season has been one of decline for Howe’s side. They lost top scorer Alexander Isak last summer but spent the best part of £250million on new signings.
Jamie Reuben issues Newcastle United statement
Newcastle co-owner Reuben did not shy away from Newcastle’s shortcomings but vowed to fix things in the summer.
“Thank you to the travelling support today, clearly a very disappointing result at the end of an underwhelming season, despite some great moments in the Champions League and other domestic cups, we have not lived up to where we should and need to be,” Reuben wrote on X.
“All of us, from ownership down to the coaching staff and players, will work tirelessly over the summer to advance our project, come back stronger and start the new season in the best way possible.
“To all our supporters, staff everyone associated with @NUFC thank you for your support.”
