That’s according to the Daily Mail, which claims the 23-year-old’s release clause is active now but will expire 30 days before the Championship season begins on August 7.

Steve Bruce’s side were first linked with Adarabioyo last month along with top-flight counterparts Arsenal.

Newcastle are in the market for a central defender this summer. Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer and Schalke’s Ozan Kabak are also known targets.

Magpies linked with Swansea City captain

Newcastle and Southampton are reportedly interested in signing Swansea City captain Matt Grimes.

Several reports over the last few days have linked the Magpies to Grimes after he led the Swans to the Championship play-off final last month.

The 25-year-old missed just one of the Welsh club’s 46 league games and although the promotion showdown was lost to Brentford, Grimes could still earn a Premier League move.

It is suggested the former Leeds United loanee is available for around £8million.

Incoming Spurs boss was considered by owners-in-waiting

Incoming Tottenham Hotspur boss Paulo Fonseca was a contender to replace Steve Bruce had the Saudi-led had been approved last year, the Daily Mails reports.

PCP Partners, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and the Reuben brothers could still gain the keys to St James’s Park as Mike Ashley continues to his legal challenges against the Premier League.

However, had the consortium got in control 12 months ago, as initially planned, then Fonseca was apparently on their managerial radar.
