Newcastle United stepped up their return to Premier League action with a 3-2 win over Tyne-Tees rivals Middlesbrough.

Goals from Yoshinori Muto, Miguel Almiron and Joelinton saw the Magpies fight back from 2-0 down in a five-goal thriller at the club’s training base.

Steve Bruce’s men played at St James’s Park on Saturday morning in an intra-friendly, where Joelinton. United’s record signing, also got on the scoresheet.

The Magpies face Sheffield United in their first game back on Sunday, June 21.
