On Friday the summer window finally slams shut and the United boss is still keen to trim the fat off his overinflated squad ahead of naming his 25-man Premier League squad.

The 24 players who look all but assured of their place in the squad are: Martin Dubravka, Karl Darlow, Mark Gillespie, Ciaran Clark, Paul Dummett, Jamaal Lascelles, Federico Fernandez, Fabian Schar Javier Manquillo, Emil Krafth, Jamal Lewis, Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden, Jeff Hendrick, Sean Longstaff, Ryan Fraser, Jacob Murphy, Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin, Matt Ritchie, Callum Wilson, Andy Carroll, Dwight Gayle and Joelinton.

And DeAndre Yedlin is likely to fill the final slot, with the USA international likely to see out his final year on Tyneside.

Here’s the four who could exit this week...

Christian Atsu

Hasn't really featured under Bruce this summer and the emergence of Jacob Murphy looks to have knocked him down the pecking order. Celtic want him, but are yet to show their hand. Watford have though, and look to be leading the race.

Henri Saivet

Has been hanging around the squad for some time, without ever looking close to getting in. Bruce likes him as a person but has made it clear his future lies elsewhere.

Rolando Aarons

Hasn't even come up in conversations this summer, which shows how far his personal stock has fallen.

Achraf Lazaar

One year left for the Morocco international, signed by Rafa Benitez. Newcastle have struggled to give him away in recent years.
